Changing the world, Kids and early bedtime.

Changing the world is a fantastic aspiration to have. For those of you that aspire to change the world, I commend you.... I was just thinking that it would be nice to change my clothes. That's as far as I go today. Well, Maybe I will change a diaper or change over the laundry or use some change to ride a bus. That's as much changing as I can handle today. Thank goodness for those motivated people out there trying to change the world. Otherwise there would be a whole lot of nothing being done.

Lately I have been exhausted. Life is leaving me in the dust and I am starting to feel like I am in need of a vacation. Just one. Just a short one. I don't even really have to leave the house... In fact if I didn't have to leave the bed that would be ideal.

I didn't post my "what's for dinner Wednesday" this week. Does that make me a bad person? In all honesty. I forgot it was Wednesday yesterday and ended up just eating out anyways. Today I was sitting quietly on the couch and I randomly looked at husband/daddy and said "umm today isn't Wednesday." He looked at me and laughed and said "no, it's Thursday" I replied with an "aww crap I didn't write my post yesterday!" disappointed I decided to write now.

Nothing really interesting to update yet. Yesterday little man and I went with Auntie A and little A to a free play group in our area. Little man was surrounded by a million other little people and I felt like I couldn't walk without tripping on a little person. He was ecstatic, but it reminded me why I will never have 10 kids... Not that I needed reminding. Little man had a tendency to take toys from other kids every once in a while. He's usually really good at sharing but yesterday a few times he would start to think he was Winona Ryder and it was time to start smuggling things that weren't his. (No disrespect to Winona I love her work but we all know what happened back in the day.) So I spent a lot of time following him around like Paul blart making sure he wasn't stealing things from multiple children. There were a few times he was put into time out but he eventually seemed to get the point. After the play date we went out for lunch and then hit up the park on the way back. Little man wanted me to come down a really narrow slide because it was really big. I must say, whoever made that slide was not accommodating anyone with hips, cheeseburger induced or otherwise.   If you had any curves at all you were at risk of getting stuck halfway down. They really need to think of us parents sometimes gosh.

Well, I am off to go lay down. It's past my bedtime by 2 hours. Yea, I realize its only 10pm.....

Threesomes, Manipulations and Blue Hair

I know, I know... I have been neglecting my blogging duties. Life has been kind of mundane. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT complaining as this means that I have had no dates with the stairs, no rendezvous' with the floor and no threesomes with the bathtub, the shower curtain and the bath mat.

We have just been kind of busy. Little man and I do what I like to call "Spring Into Spring" dance every day, which includes lots of bouncing around and spinning and clapping trying to entice Spring to start so that we can start enjoying the weather. (See? I told you things are weird.. With me doing all that jumping you would assume that I would have fallen flat on my face at least once right!? NOPE!)

Little Man is totally putting up a fight lately though. Terrible Two's? Nope How about Way Too Smart Two and a Half's? This Little Dude is totally trying to play me every which way lately! What?! He's trying to trick a Ninja? Listen Little Man, Just because you are Ninja Spawn does NOT make you more of a Ninja than me! I will always have one up on you because I am just a LITTLE bit older and wiser and have tried all those tricks in my day and age. Don't get me wrong, he is a very smart, very good Little Man. For the most part he is pretty well behaved, but every once in a while he tries to switch it up with a little Manipulation. For Example: In our household bedtime has ALWAYS been bedtime. There has never been any questions, any delaying for any reason. Lately Husband/Daddy has been going to school a few weeknights a week and he is there through Little Man's bedtime, so something that is normally a family thing has turned into a Just Mommy and Little Man thing a few nights a week... shouldn't be a problem, there were times when Husband/Daddy would work late before and I would put him to bed myself without an issue. Lately, its been.. "Mommy I have water?", "Mommy No bedtime Yet!", "Mommy my finger hurts." But when Daddy's home he doesn't try any of that not even for a second. Which brings me to my next point.. Why in the world does he think I am going to cave?! Of course I don't and he ends up going right to bed anyways so it's not a big deal, it's just surprising that he is even TRYING that at all! Oh Well!

Onto other news.. Yesterday I noticed I am getting White hairs. Seriously. Not Grey, White! And there are about 3 of them. Um, Excuse me!? Last I checked I am 25 and totally not ready for ANY of that! I am going to cut my hair really short and start getting a perm and dyeing my hair blue if thats the case!

Little Man's Funny Quote Fridays!

Welcome back to "Little Man's Funny Quote Fridays!"

This weeks was pretty funny to me. It was easy to tell what I was going to use for my post today. Husband/Daddy was laying on the couch in the living room, he was relaxed.. and when I say relaxed I mean relaxed. Relaxed enough to let himself pass gas. Little man started laughing and ran up to Husband/Daddy and started sniffing the air. Husband/Daddy being the weirdo he was asked "What does Daddy's Bubbles smell like?"

Little man Looked back at him scrunched up his face and came to the most obvious conclusion:

"Ewww Daddy Bubbles smell like Poop"

Well, that was enough to throw both Husband/Daddy and I into a laughing fit. I know it was an obvious answer but he was so matter of fact about it, and we really weren't expecting that.

  2. Place chicken, breast side up, on a greased wire rack in a roasting pan. Brush chicken with oil. Pour stock into pan.
  3. Roast chicken at 350° for 25 minutes per pound (1¼ to 1¾ hours for an average bird), basting often with juices and stock from the pan.

Sweet Cup N' Cakes

Today was an interesting remainder of the day. Husband/Daddy called me around Noon and let me know that the interview was put off until Sunday so not to worry too much about the house. Oh thanks, because you could already eat a meal off the floor... Oh well at least its clean for the weekend.

This afternoon Little man and I made cupcakes together. His first baking adventure with Mommy and we had quite the messy, good time.

In fact, he had so much fun icing them that I just had to take pictures of his amusement!

He made quite the mess of a few of them, but I let my OCD, Everything has to be just right attitude fly away and let my carefree just let Little man be a kid mood take over!

And I must say after I relax and just enjoy the moment life is just much more fun!

So we iced the cupcakes with chocolate icing. Which he got more on himself and the counter and on me then I think he got on the cupcakes.

And then we used different coloured sprinkles for on top of them. They looked Beautiful once he was done. He made a special one for Daddy all blue and yellow.

Then, he got to pick one for himself to enjoy and we hung out and ate a cupcake.

Again, he made quite the mess, but his happy funny faces were payment enough!

He was talking about it all day he was so proud of himself.
After we cleaned up the kitchen Little Man got pretty tired and hung out for a while snuggling with Mommy on the couch. Sugar crash!

Manipulation, OCD and ADHD

Well, Its finally Friday. Doesn't mean much to me as we are going to have a pretty busy weekend anyways. Tomorrow Little Man is going to go spend the day with Tia and Tio while Husband/Daddy and I go and take care of a few things and tie up some loose ends. Sunday Husband/Daddy has to work again so really not much of a weekend.

Little Man is really doing a good job at testing boundaries lately. I swear he believes that if he just puts a little grin on his face he can get away with anything. (I have to admit that sometimes I truly want to let him get away with it just because he's adorable) But as usual he doesn't get away with anything, consistency is hard when you have a comedian for a child. The other day he poured his juice all over the floor and when I looked at him and said "Little Man you KNOW you aren't supposed to do that" He looked back, literally batted his eyelashes and said "Cute Face" Cupped both hands around his chin and flashed me a cute smile. It almost worked. I mean Am I getting soft?! Something inside me melted but I kept my exterior cool and calm and put him in Time-Out. No manipulating me Young Man.

This morning has been a different story. He has literally been an angel! Thankfully because when I came downstairs with him this morning I saw that not only was the kitchen a disaster, but the garbages that I had asked Husband/Daddy to take out were still there and over flowing. He is supposed to be having an interview at the house today so of course I am in "Make the house pristine, OCD cleaning.. Oh Look There's another mess ADHD mode." That's right Ladies and Gentlemen, I Have been blessed with OCD and ADHD, I am starting to become unsure of how I function as its seemingly getting worse. And of course, put a broom in my hand, give me a dustpan and all of a sudden I am the one thats a mess! Apparently I can't clean without my buttocks shining the floor. Oh, and wash the floor!? Yeah right! Then I am in trouble, because if for some reason I have to walk across the wet floor I am somehow sliding and slipping all over the place and end up wearing the mop bucket on my head by accident, covered in soapy dirty water and crying. Seriously, Its happened before.

I am starting to feel pretty secluded. Thankfully the weather is getting better so we can start our daily spring picnics and trips to the park again. Those were always fun and I know Little Man will be happy those days are back.

Little Man's Funny Quote Fridays!

Hey Everyone! Welcome Back to "Little Man's Funny Quote Fridays!"

This week proved to be an easy selection when it came to Little Man's Funny Quote.

I put him in the bathtub last night and as he was splashing around and playing he made quite the observation that I REALLY couldn't help but laugh at. I hope no one finds this inappropriate but I just HAD to post it.

"Mommy Look! My Pecker a boat and float... Weeeeee"

And that concludes this weeks "Funny Quote Friday!" See Ya Next Week For more from Little Man.

Whats For Dinner Wednesday!

Here I am again. It's Wednesday and I am back for my weekly "What's For Dinner Wednesday".

Today I have about had it already and really just want to make the following for dinner:

Stuff You Need
  • Car
  • Car Keys
  • Gas
  • Drivers License
  • Drive-thru near by
Directions:
  • Get in car
  • Drive to Drive-Thru
  • Order
  • Go home and stuff your face
But, alas, It will NOT be written like that today as I AM expected to create a meal tonight. Although I thought my first idea was creative enough.

So, Here's The reality:

Garl-ICKY Beef Brisket

Stuff Your Going To Need:

  • 2 Tbsps Olive Oil
  • 6 pound beef brisket, rinsed and patted dry
  • Kosher salt and freshly-ground pepper
  • 40 large cloves garlic, peeled (About 3-4 clusters Peeled)
  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced and separated into rings
  • 1/4 cup red wine, But as I said before I dislike cooking with alcohol so I substitute for balsamic vinegar
  • 3 cups of beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano... Make sure you crush it.. crush it good.
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

Stuff To Do With The Stuff You Need:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Season brisket liberally on both sides with kosher salt and freshly-ground black pepper.
  3. Heat a large deep-sided, oven-proof skillet with a lid over medium-high heat. Add the Olive Oil to coat the bottom. Sear both sides of brisket, beginning with fat-side down, until golden brown. Remove to a platter.
  4. Add garlic cloves and onion rings (Not the kind you get at a bar the ones I mentioned above) to the remaining oil in the pan. Cook and stir until garlic begins to turn golden and onions are limp. (Te-He.. Limp)
  5. Add Balasamic Vinegar (or Wine) and deglaze the pan, stirring for 1 minute while scraping up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Add beef broth, the CRUSHED Oregano, and basil. Bring back to a simmer, then turn off heat. Move garlic and onions to the side and return brisket to the skillet. Spoon garlic and onions over the top of the brisket, cover tightly, and place in the oven.
  6. Bake for 1 hour at 325 F. Reduce heat to 300 and bake an additional 1-1/2 to 2 hours, or until brisket is fork-tender. Remove brisket to a platter and cover to keep warm. Let rest for 10 minutes.(How come the food gets a rest and I don't!?)
  7. Remove half of of garlic cloves and most of onions to a bowl. Skim off excess oil from the pan gravy and discard. Blend Pan gravy and garlic until smooth. You can add a flour to thicken gravy, if you wish. Return reserved whole garlic cloves and onions to the gravy.
  8. Slice brisket diagonally and serve with the pan gravy.... Mmmmmm Gravy......
Serves about 8-10 People. So Good for leftovers! NOM NOM NOM!

I am going to be serving this with a Cesar Salad and Rice.

So that was my "Whats for Dinner Wednesday" Eat it up! You're Welcome!

2010, Tempting Fate and Daylight Savings Time

Things seem to be working out for us for the time being. I don't mean to sound negative but when you have gone through what we had been through in 2010 its hard not to assume trouble is lurking around the corner. On a positive note we are thoroughly happy with what we have. We enjoy where we are living and I continue to put forth a great effort to never give the stairs here the satisfaction of meeting my behind up close. Of course its only a matter of time before my bottom gives in and lets the stairs have a little contact. Especially since I have been walking slowly down the stairs to avoid falling, but the stairs may be under the impression that I am teasing them, and when you lead something on like that.. there are usually consequences.

Things have been busy around here. We are all still getting over being sick. Husband/Daddy has been helpful lately so I assuming my little list of my day actually instilled some sense of what a day at home is actually like and he has decided to take some initiative. Don't get me wrong, he still leaves his cups beside the bed and his socks all over the floor but at least he can wash a dish without me asking... that's progress.

Little Man has decided that he now speaks Spanish and has taken a liking to counting from 1-10 in Spanish as well as playing with his school bus and saying Bus in Spanish. It's quite adorable when he walks up to me in the kitchen while I am cooking and says: "Hola Mommy." It makes me giggle.

Today was spent just hanging around. I have Daylight Savings Time to thank for my Little man now sleeping in until 7:30ish every morning. Way better than 6:30. Yay! And he is still going to bed at 7:30pm so that's nice.

I guess I am going to head to bed, Like I said we have been pretty boring lately.

Little Man's Funny Quote Fridays!

Welcome back to "Little Man's Funny Quote Fridays!"

This week as usual was hard to decide what to put on here for his funny quote has he tends to have some interesting things to say all the time.

Today I decided to go with something that made me giggle this morning. I was laying in bed with Husband/Daddy. His alarm had just gone off and I had been laying awake for quite some time. All of a sudden our door opens, Little man had reached over his baby gate and opened the door.

Little Man Says:

"Hey! Hey You Guys! Daddy Work Time.. Mommy HOT WHEELS.... NOW"

I guess we were told.. We know our roles now...

Stay tuned for Next Weeks "Funny Quote Friday"

Sickies, Jealousy and Hotel Rooms

I swear that I am expected to be a super hero. Listen here everyone. Ninjas are Ninjas NOT super Heros and although I AM incredibly cool and stealthy I in no way possess any sort of super human strength. Unless being able to fall down 10 stairs without dieing proves otherwise.. although I think that only proves my lack of normal human strength in the clumsy area and actually makes me less of a super hero and more of a putz.

When Husband/Daddy is sick he lays in bed moaning about how awful he feels. He sniffles and sneezes and moans and groans. When Little man is sick, he keeps me up all night and then falls asleep on the couch during the day while I still have to clean. This Ninja has NO time for naps. Yet when I am sick.. I am still expected to go about life taking care of these whiny snot nosed sickies, maintain the house and feed everyone. When do I get to check out? When do I get to lay in bed and whine?

Yesterday I was cleaning the kitchen while Sicky Daddy was laying on the couch, I came into the living room and this is what I saw:

Yep, they are both passed out snoring on the couch. Now, at this point a lot of things were running through my head. "Awww that's cute", "What the heck!? Why doesn't Little man fall asleep with me?", "Why is it that when I am sick he won't just lay down for a second?" and the ever annoying "Why does Daddy get to sleep?" Jealous Much!? I'd say so. Because it usually goes like this:

NinjaMommers: "Hey Little Man, come lay down with Mommy she is not feeling very well."
Little Man: "Nope"
NinjaMommers: "Ok, then can you please listen and be a good boy while Mommy takes a rest?"
Little Man: "Nope"
NinjaMommers: "Well you are going to...." (closes and rests eyes for a second)
Little Man: (Walks over, Pokes NM in the eye socket and says): "No Mommy Wake up!"

I am going to start leaving the house and renting a hotel room when these boys are sick... Mark my words.

What's For Dinner Wednesdays!

Welcome back to "What's For Dinner Wednesday!"

Today is going to be a quick and easy meal as usual. I have come to Wednesday wondering what I am going to do. Husband/Daddy is still sick. Little man has decided he doesn't eat again and I have decided that this battle is all downhill from here.. because if things don't improve I will launch myself down a hill.

Easy Beef Stroganoff

Crap you need to buy at the store:
2 tbsp. non-hydrogenated margarine
1 lb. beef stir fry strips
2 cups sliced mushrooms (husband/Daddy HATES mushrooms, but at this point I don't care)
1 envelope Onion Soup Mix
2 cups water
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 Cup sour cream

Cook it this way because a Ninja Said so:
Melt margarine in large skillet over medium-high heat and brown steak with mushrooms. Remove from skillet; keep warm.

Stir Onion Soup Mix, water and flour into same skillet. Bring to boil over high heat, reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring constantly, until sauce is thickened. Return steak and mushrooms to skillet. Stir in sour cream and heat through. Serve, if desired, over hot cooked noodles.. I usually use egg noodles because they cook fast. I am also serving this with a garden salad.

That was this weeks "What's for Dinner Wednesday!" Stay tuned for next week!

MORE Drunk Leprechauns, Sickness and Shopping

Have you ever had one of those days that you feel like you might just end up bald from pulling all your hair out in clumps? The kind of day that you feel like you should win the "worst Mommy award?" The days that you aren't sure of what to do with yourself, your child, your husband or your dog?

That's the day I am having today. As usual Little man was up this morning shortly before 7. He was convinced that, as he put it: "The Sun Woked up". It really hadn't at all, in fact it was still pretty dark out. Daddy has now contracted this silly cold and the first thing I heard from him this morning was "I'm sick." Poor baby, although I tried to pull the tough woman thing and say "Sorry Hunny no sympathy, I had to do everything while I was sick so... Same goes for you." Except as we speak, Poor sicky is laying down for a nap.. (Might I add, I never got to take one) and I am sitting here writing this.

Today was a day to get stuff done for me. We got our income tax return and still require a few things for the new place like Garbage cans and the little cutlery trays that go in the drawers, towels, Bath matts etc. So, the plan was for Husband/Daddy to drop me off and do some laundry and the Laundromat so that we could have some clean clothes and stuff since the Washer has been broken here since we moved in and we are patiently waiting for it to get fixed... Husband/Daddy dropped me off and went to the Flea Market in town where he looked at some stuff with Little man. Little man was apparently an Angel so he got two new Police cars (that make the MOST ANNOYING siren noise) from the place and then came back to get me when the stuff was clean. They picked me up and we headed to the Book Store where I purchased a few books I have been dieing to read... and where Little Man decided that he was going to start getting crusty. I have no patients for his attitude, and especially for children that misbehave in public so that excursion was short lived. Husband/Daddy took him kicking and screaming out to the car while I stood in line.. Why does it always seem like when its time for me to do something for myself he starts getting crusty? Sure he behaved really well for Daddy earlier... but then all of a sudden that was over and when I wanted do something it was rather rushed. FINE. So I purchase my stuff and get back in the car where I have a little chat with my "Drunk Leprechaun" About manners and behavior in general but especially in Public. He says sorry and we head to the next store to go and stock up on the things we are missing. I warn him as we get out of the car to make sure that he behaves himself, he says he will so we proceed in.

About 10 Minuets not even into our shopping trip the Leprechaun is now not only drunk but straight up belligerent... he has decided that the shopping cart can't contain him and that if he screams loud enough he will get what he wants... I have NO idea where he got that notion... must be the Apple Juice talking because he should KNOW by now that that NEVER works. I gave him one stern warning and he looked right at me and said "No Mommy." So in one fowl swoop I had him out of the cart and was racing for the exit. Daddy was just coming around the corner from looking at things and said "Aren't we going to buy this stuff?" Dear old Husband, we only managed to get two things in the cart before your child (I say your because when he misbehaves its CLEARLY something he inherited from his father and certainly not from his mother) decided that turning into the Hulk's Mini Me in the cart was the best idea. Those things will still be here tomorrow, or later today.. but Little Man's attitude IS GOING to change.. I continue out of the store with Daddy following behind me and Little Man screaming. Yes, I am getting dirty looks from people who probably have their children at home with their Grandparents or they are keeping them quiet with bribes.. but don't you DARE judge me because I would rather drag my Gremlin out of a store kicking and screaming than try to subdue him with what he wants, that may work in the short term but certainly is only to everyone's detriment in the long run, and I will NOT resort to constant bribes for my child to behave.. he will just do it.

We get to the car and I look him in the eyes and say in my best I am a mad Mommy voice: "Now you listen to me Little Man, You got taken out of the store because you can't behave, so now we are going to go straight home and you are going to have a nap." He tried to object, but it was useless. He was sad because he wanted to go look at the toy section of the store but instead now all he was looking at was Mommy being disappointed in his behavior and pretty soon the ceiling of his bedroom and then the back of his eye lids.

We got home, I put him in bed. He got out. I put him back in bed he said he was sorry for not behaving and then that little leprechaun cried himself to sleep the whole while muttering something about the toy section of the store.

Now, I feel like I did the right thing, because I WONT have my child acting like that in the middle of a store... or at home for that matter. But of course the main thing about being a Mother I have found (aside from the messy hugs and sticky kisses of course) is the guilt. If I wasn't feeling guilty then I don't believe I would have parented effectively.

Well, Now.. I am going to go and clean the house a little bit and Hope my little leprechaun sleeps as much as possible and doesn't wake up with an Apple Juice Hangover of some sort... and maybe, just maybe, we can try this trip to the store again... If he misbehaves this time I believe my Mother In Law in Turks and Caccios will be receiving quite the shipment in the mail. It will be fragile. Don't worry I will poke air holes.

Moving, Unpacking and Pulling Teeth

So, Here I am finally updating. I NEVER go this long without writing but unfortunatly My lovely Hubster had decided that when he packed my computer.. (Not positive as to why in the world I let him pack it) he wasn't going to include the power cord for the tower in the box. I managed to get everything else unpacked on Sunday with the help of my little sister/Aunt Jack but left the Computer until last as I didn't have a computer desk or a screen at the time.

I still don't have a desk, I just set it up on the kitchen counter today.. because let's face it, I can't handle not writing for that long and I was starting to go stir crazy. As I was trying to set it up, that's when I noticed that I didn't have the power cord for the tower. I spent 3 hours on the phone to tech support for my computer as I had found another power cord in a different box but didn't want to use it if it wasn't the right one for the computer. Funny, because Hubster didn't have to look for HIS PS3 cable at all in the move and had his PS3 set up in a second flat the first evening we were here... Hmph.

The move went well. I had a ton of help this time around and things went rather quickly. Although my sister (apparently an avid reader of my blog) constantly kept reminding me "It's icy there be careful","Watch yourself, don't trip". I suppose she was right because as usual I fell at least once, managed to get myself stuck in between furniture and somehow avoided a date with my brand new stairs! But those stairs need to be christened and I am sure it will happen soon.

Little Man stayed at Papa and Jay Jay's for the weekend and we got everything finished. When he came back to the new place on Sunday he walked in to the living room/Play area and saw all his toys unpacked and literally started vibrating he was so Happy. That made me happy too. Come Tuesday he was sick as heck. Not a wink of sleep Monday Night, up every hour and that never happens. Tuesday I was SURE he had an ear infection but couldn't get an appointment with our family Doctor until Wednesday Morning. We had a good run, he has managed to evade any sort of ear infection for the last 2 1/2 years so it was about time... Come Thursday he had shared his virus with me. I am so proud of him, I have always told him to share.. guess I left out the part of NOT sharing germs. Little gremlin.

Little man also no longer has naps, and refuses to get up after 7am. So, I am up every morning around 6:30 and really don't understand how this kid can have so much energy ALL day. By Noon I just want to crawl into a kitchen cupboard and fall asleep... but inevitably Little man would find me, and probably poke me in the eye and tell me "Mommy Wake Up!" Which he tends to do even if I just rest my eyes on the couch for a moment.

My head feels like someone has crawled inside it and is banging on my forehead with tiny wooden spoons, my nose is trickling snot like there`s no tomorrow and my throat feels like someone took sand paper to it! Being sick and parenting a two year old is quite similar to going to the Dentist. In fact, its worse, because at least at the dentist when you are going through the pain of having your teeth pulled they let you sleep and then give you some drugs. I almost want to go to the dentist just to get a nap in.. perhaps I will schedule an appointment.

Little Man's Funny Quote Fridays!

Welcome back to "Little Man's Funny Quote Fridays!" I haven't written all week, so I have some updating to do after this is posted..

Little Man has said some funny things this week, and as usual I had to decide from a few rather funny little quotes.

Yesterday Little Man decided that he was going to say something incredible:

He walked up to me and said:

"Mommy, Pweez 'scuse your Bum Bum Bubbles"

Guess he heard me and my gassy fanny and decided that I need a lesson in manners.
